About

Note: Our beta releases have a "-pre" in their name.

8.x.y

8.x.y runs only on Linux-2.6.x.

8.2.y

Receives new features, and all bugfixes of 8.0. The protocol might get extended with

new releases. We include new features, and keep it stable at the same time.

To the latest 8.2.y ChangeLog.

8.1

Is functional equivalent to 8.0.y, but closer to Linux's coding style and without

our compatibility layers to run on older 2.6.x kernels. This is what we suggest for

Linux-mainline inclusion, but there is still some work to do.

8.0.y

Is the current stable (in the sense of feature-frozen) branch, and only receives bug fixes. The wire protocol is frozen as well.

To the latest 8.0.y ChangeLog.

All 8.x.y releases are protocol compatible.

0.7.x

0.7.x releases run on Linux-2.6.x and Linux-2.4.x.

Drbd-0.7.x is phased out, and will be maintained only until 2008-10-31.

To the latest 0.7.x ChangeLog.

Note: "api" version denotes compatibility level to the user space tool drbdsetup. Identical "proto" number means these are compatible on the wire, so to upgrade you could connect two different releases with the same proto version.

Since drbd 0.7.0, two drbd releases with adjacent api versions will be able to talk with each other, which makes rolling upgrades (no service downtime) possible.
