About
Pre-built binary packages

Installable binary packages in .rpm or .deb format for x86 and x86_64 (aka AMD64) are available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) versions 4 and 5, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) versions 9 and 10, Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 (etch), and Ubuntu Linux Server Edition 6.06 LTS.

Please browse the list of currently supported built packages, see here for information on how to get access to the files. Please understand this as your chance to sponsor the further development of the DRBD open source project.

We also provide pre-built RPMs of csync2 for these platforms.

Using DRBD packages from your distribution vendor

DRBD 0.7 packages are now integrated into the official Debian GNU/Linux version 3.1 ("sarge").

DRBD 8 packages for 3.1 ("sarge") and 4.0 ("etch") are available from the Debian Backports package repository. DRBD 8 is also included in the forthcoming Debian GNU/Linux release codenamed "lenny".

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) also has had DRBD 0.7 for some time. SLES does not contain DRBD 8 (yet).

Note: Though SuSE 9.3 comes with a package named "drbd-0.8.0-3", DRBD 8 was not released when SuSE 9.3 came out. That SuSE package is based on development code, so if you have any problems, performance or other, don't even ask. The same is true for the DRBD 8 pre-release version included in Ubuntu 7.04 "Feisty Fawn".

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) does not include DRBD, although CentOS does.

These packages can be installed easily with APT, YUM, etc., however they may lag behind current DRBD releases by a one or several releases. To stay on top of DRBD development and have binary packages available as soon as any bugs are fixed, go with the official LINBIT packages.

Building DRBD from source

The source code .tgz files are available on oss.linbit.com.
